Bought a $40 GPS unit for a solo trip in the Sawtooths
Got turned around in thick fog above Alice Lake, but the offline maps saved me hours. Felt like a dumb purchase until that moment. Anyone have a go-to backup for when the phone dies?

What saved me, @the_simon, was having a simple paper map as a backup.
