Finally hiked Eagle Creek to Tunnel Falls last Saturday and the trail was way harder than the reviews said
I figured a 6.3 mile out-and-back with only 800 feet of gain would be a relaxed afternoon, but those narrow ledges above the creek had me gripping the cable ropes way more than I expected, so has anyone else found a solid pair of trekking poles that actually help on slick basalt rock?

Eagle Creek's elevation gain is barely the story, those exposed cliff sections are the real workout. Trekking poles can actually be more dangerous on that slick basalt since you're forced to one-hand the cable if you're holding a pole.

Nailed it. Once pulled my partner off balance doing exactly that.
