I was sure the Wonderland Trail was too crowded to be worth it
I read a trip report from a guy who went in early October, and he said he only saw three other groups over the whole 93 miles (which is wild). The fall colors were amazing, and he said the permit situation was way easier. Now I'm looking at my calendar for next year. Has anyone else done it that late in the season and had a good time?

Weather can turn real fast that time of year though.

I read a blog post from a guy who did the Wonderland in late September a few years back, and he said the trail was practically empty but he ran into snow on the last day. He had crampons and an ice axe, which he didn't expect to need. The fall colors were supposed to be incredible though, especially around the Spray Park area. I guess it's a trade off between solitude and making sure you're ready for weather that can change fast.
