Looking at old trail maps made me realize how much the PCT has moved
I was checking a 1998 guidebook against the current FarOut app and saw the official route near Burney Falls shifted over two miles east. Found that detail in a ranger station binder up in Shasta. Anyone know of other major trails that have been rerouted that much?

The CDT reroute around the Gila River cliffs added almost 30 miles last year.

That "added almost 30 miles" thing feels like a universal rule now. My phone's last update added so many steps to do simple things. Everything seems to get longer and more complicated, not shorter and easier.

Totally get that feeling with phone updates. I just stopped installing them after the last one hid my favorite settings behind three menus. Now I check online forums first to see if the update is actually fixing something or just moving stuff around. Sometimes the old way works fine and you just have to ignore the update prompt. It feels like they're solving problems nobody actually had.
