Picked the PCT over the CDT for my first thru-hike and it changed my plans completely

Man that's a tough call. I get it though, the PCT just has that pull for first timers, the whole Triple Crown mystique and the scenery is unreal. Switching trails means a bunch of research down the drain, all those maps and gear lists you had dialed for the CDT are worthless now. But honestly, picking the right trail for you is way more important than sticking to a plan that doesn't fit. Hope you get some killer views and a good weather window out there.

A ranger told me the Sierra snowpack is way lower this year, so water might be scarce.
