Vent: half the trail markers in Shenandoah are useless after rain
Did the Mary's Rock loop last weekend and the painted blazes were completely washed out on the granite sections, had to backtrack half a mile twice in the fog. Why do they even bother marking rock faces instead of just installing more posts, has anyone else nearly gotten lost because of this?

You ever notice trail markers only disappear when you're already knee deep in fog and questioning every life choice you've made?
Mary's Rock has been playing this game for years, I swear those painted blazes wash off if a squirrel sneezes on them. Last time I did that loop I ended up following some orange flagging tape that turned out to be a surveyor's line for a cell tower.
Posts would be too logical, I guess, gotta keep us humble and guessing. At least you only backtracked half a mile, I once added a bonus 3 miles to my "short" hike because the white blazes decided to ghost me on the rocks.
