Wasted $180 on a fancy GPS unit, turns out paper maps work fine
I bought a top-of-the-line GPS for a 5 day trip in the Smokies and it died on day 2 when the battery froze. Went back to a paper map and compass I almost left at home and finished the whole loop without issue. Anyone else dumped cash on gear they ended up not needing?
