Figured out a cheap trick to keep squirrels off my bird feeder

Man I was so fed up with squirrels cleaning out my feeder every single morning. I tried those fancy baffles and even greased the pole with vaseline but those little guys just laughed at me. Then last week I read somewhere online about adding a handful of cayenne pepper to the seed mix. I figured it couldn't hurt so I dumped a bunch in and stirred it up. Three days now and not a single squirrel has touched it. The cardinals and finches don't seem to care at all about the spice. Has anyone else tried this or found something that works even better?

Honestly I gotta ask, is this really that big of a deal? Yeah squirrels are annoying but theyre just trying to eat like everything else out there. Tbh I just let them have at it and refill the feeder once a day, saves me the headache of trying to outsmart a rodent.

Read somewhere that squirrels basically forget where they bury half their nuts, so we're all just feeding them anyway.
