I finally figured out why my bird feeder was empty every morning for 3 weeks

Turns out a family of raccoons was climbing my 6 foot pole at night and cleaning out my black oil sunflower seeds. I saw muddy paw prints on the side one morning and it clicked. Took me way too long to realize it wasn't the sparrows, just a raccoon squad having midnight snacks. Has anyone else dealt with raccoons raiding feeders at night?

Wait a raccoon SQUAD? That's hilarious and terrifying at the same time!

3 weeks of empty feeders is wild. Those raccoons must have been having a feast every single night. Did you ever catch them in the act, or just piece it together from the muddy paw prints? I had a similar issue once with a single raccoon that figured out how to unhook the feeder from the chain, but a whole group working as a team sounds like something out of a nature documentary.
