I had my suet feeder setup backwards for 2 years

Turns out I was hanging my suet cages too low, like 4 feet off the ground. I thought it was great for photos but the starlings and squirrels were wrecking it every day. Last month I watched a Cooper's hawk nail a sparrow right next to the feeder, that's when it clicked. The birds were too exposed and the big birds were using my setup to ambush them. I moved everything up to about 8 feet, near my holly bush for cover. Now the woodpeckers actually stay longer and I don't have to refill every 2 days. Anyone else made a dumb height mistake that took a predator to fix?

My buddy Dave kept his feeder at face height for a year, til a cat got three cardinals.
