Just realized that $40 UV resistant bird feeder lasted 6 months before it cracked
I bought a feeder specifically sold as UV resistant and weatherproof back in March. Figured it would hold up fine through summer sun. By September the clear plastic body was completely yellow and brittle. A woodpecker landed on it and the whole thing just shattered. $40 down the drain. Anyone else have good luck with a metal or glass feeder that actually lasts?

Are they labeling stuff "UV resistant" just to slap a higher price on it knowing full well it'll fall apart in a single season?

Bought a "UV resistant" bird feeder last April. The plastic turned chalky and started crumbling by August, and the birds acted like it offended them personally. @umaprice, it's like the whole concept is a joke they're in on. The squirrels don't even bother with it anymore, they just sit on the fence and stare at me like I'm the one who failed them.
