Last week a blue jay took out my phone by knocking a coffee cup off the railing

I was trying to get a photo of a downy woodpecker and the jay dive-bombed my mug, which hit my phone screen and cracked it. Anybody else have birds cause accidental property damage in their yard?

Yeah I actually read this thing online about how blue jays are basically the bullies of the bird world, they'll steal food and knock stuff over just because they can. That tip about putting peanuts somewhere else makes total sense, they'll probably forget about your coffee once they see a whole dish of their favorite snack.

Put a tray or shallow dish of peanuts out away from your feeder. Jays are greedy and will leave your coffee alone once they have their own snacks to fight over.
