Mockingbird attacked my reflection in the window for 2 hours straight last Tuesday

I have a big picture window in the living room and this one mockingbird just would not let up. Kept flying into it over and over, pecking at his own reflection. My wife thought I was crazy when I taped a trash bag over half the window to break up the reflection. Has anyone else dealt with a territorial bird that just wont quit?

That trash bag trick is actually a solid move from what I've seen. In my experience, mockingbirds are some of the most stubborn birds when it comes to fighting their own reflection. They'll keep at it for days if you let them, sometimes even messing up the window screen or leaving smudge marks everywhere. A buddy of mine in Texas had one that started at 5am every morning for a week straight, and he finally just hung a mesh curtain over his sliding door. The bird moved on after a few days once it couldn't see itself anymore. Your mileage may vary but sometimes you just gotta out-stubborn them with a temporary fix until nesting season passes.

its wild how things that are just trying to exist can set off something so hard. kind of like how my neighbor's security light keeps turning on every time a squirrel runs past it and the squirrel just keeps coming back anyway.
