I kept buying the big $9 bag of mixed seed at the hardware store in Modesto because it looked like more food for less money, but my feeder stayed quiet except for a couple house sparrows. Last month I actually read the label and it was mostly red milo and millet, which most of the birds I wanted just kick onto the ground and ignore. What are you all putting out that actually pulls in finches and chickadees without costing a fortune?
