Skeptical about the suet cage, now I get it

Tried hanging a suet cage last month after my neighbor kept pushing it. Thought it was just for woodpeckers, but the chickadees and nuthatches go through a cake in 5 days flat. Anyone else find suet brings in way more birds than seed alone?

Ha! Yeah, suet's a total game changer... the little guys tear through it way faster than I expected.

Wait, are we really calling suet a win when it just turns your yard into a drive-thru for every squirrel and starling in the neighborhood? I hung one cake up and within two days the starlings cleaned it out completely, leaving nothing for the chickadees or nuthatches you mentioned. Plus, suet melts into a greasy mess on warm days and stains the siding under the feeder, which is a total pain to scrub off. And honestly, I tracked my seed usage before and after, and suet didn't bring in any new species, just the same birds fighting over the fatty block instead of the sunflower hearts. Seems like more hassle than it's worth, but maybe your setup keeps the bullies away better than mine did.
