Tried those cheap plastic finch feeders and was shocked how fast they cracked in the sun

After replacing three of them in two months I finally caved and bought a metal mesh one for $18 and it's been hanging out in the Texas heat since June without a single issue... so do yourselves a favor and skip the dollar store stuff, anyone else have feeders fall apart on them?

Plastic does not hold up in direct sun at all.

You know, I used to think plastic was pretty tough stuff and could handle just about anything. But after leaving a plastic chair out on my deck for one summer, the color faded and the surface got all brittle and cracked. "Does not hold up in direct sun at all" really nails it, I never realized how fast UV rays break it down until I saw it happen.
