Window feeder vs pole feeder, the difference was night and day for me

Last month I put up a window feeder right by my kitchen sink and kept my old pole feeder out by the fence. In 10 days I counted 23 visits to the window feeder but only 6 to the pole one. The window feeder is just a cheap suction cup tray I got for $8 at the hardware store, but being closer to the glass makes the birds way more relaxed. The pole feeder birds always spooked when I moved around inside, but the window ones barely look up when I refill coffee. Has anyone else found their birds prefer one location over another that much?

My buddy put one up and his cats went nuts, birds stopped coming entirely.
