Appreciation post: That plastic kiddie pool I threw in the run last week

So my girls were really tearing up the grass in their run and I needed a cheap way to give them something to scratch around in besides dirt. I grabbed one of those hard plastic kiddie pools from Target for like 12 bucks, filled it with a bag of playground sand, and threw in some dried mealworms. I figured they'd kick most of it out in a day or two. What I didn't expect was how obsessed they'd get with the sand bathing. They take turns digging little craters and flinging sand everywhere, and the dust bath has cut down on mites way more than the fancy dust I bought from the feed store. I just sift out the poop clumps every few days and add a fresh scoop of sand. Has anyone else tried this or do you stick with dirt piles only?
