Found out my hens are eating 25% more in winter, and I've been underfeeding them for years

Read a fact sheet from the county extension office in Duluth about cold weather feed needs, and it said hens bump intake by a quarter when temps drop below freezing. I always just topped off the feeder whenever it looked low, never measured. Anyone else track feed weight by season or am I the only one who flew blind this whole time?
