Lost two hens to heat before I tried frozen water bottles
Back in July near Austin, Texas the temp hit 103 and my two Orpingtons went down before noon. I rushed out and froze a few 2-liter soda bottles filled with water, then laid them in the shade under their coop. By 3pm the rest of the flock was panting next to those bottles, and we haven't lost another bird since. Has anyone else tried ice blocks or foggers that work better for a 6-bird setup?
