My 6 AM flock check turned into a written chore chart
Used to just eyeball the coop and call it good, but after a raccoon got in last August I stopped trusting my memory. Now I have a dry erase board on the shed door with a daily list: water level, feed weight, egg count, and a quick vent check on each hen. Takes about 8 minutes instead of the old 2, but it caught a sneezing hen last Tuesday before she got the whole flock sick. The raccoon loss was 4 birds in one night, that's what kicked this off. Anyone else keep a written log or am I the weird one on the block?

Wait, are you running a chicken daycare or a small business now with your time clock and everything? 8 minutes of clipboard duty sounds more organized than my entire morning routine. I guess that sneezing hen makes it worth it, but I'd probably just end up losing the dry erase marker every other day.
