Tried fermented feed for 3 weeks and finally saw the difference

I switched to fermented feed for my 6 hens about a month ago. I was skeptical at first because the process is a little messy and takes some planning. But after 3 weeks I noticed their egg yolks got way darker and the shells feel harder. Plus I'm spending about 15% less on feed since they seem to eat less volume when it's fermented. Has anyone else tried this and seen changes in feather quality or egg production?

Funny, I had the exact opposite experience. Tried fermented feed for a couple months and ended up throwing most of it out because the hens barely touched it after the first week. Yolks looked the same to me, shells actually got thinner from what I could tell, and I had to deal with mold growing in the bucket twice before I gave up. Ended up back on dry feed and my girls are laying better than ever, plus I don't have to plan ahead or clean a nasty bucket every few days. Not saying it can't work for some people, but it's not this magic bullet everyone makes it out to be.

Two mold buckets would've been my limit too. I'll take dry feed and clean water any day.
