My dead clay pit in Tempe turned into a worm factory after 6 months, still not sure if that's good
I dug out 4 inches of rock hard caliche last spring, mixed in two bags of compost from the city dump, and now I've got more red wigglers than I know what to do with, so does anyone actually sift the castings or just dump the whole bin on the beds?
Dumping the whole bin just puts worms and eggs right back in the mix, so you never really get pure castings anyway. Sift the stuff, toss the worms and cocoons back, then use the finished part.
