Planted 87 bulbs in 40 minutes with a cordless drill

My auger bit for the drill was $18 at the local hardware store and it beat the hand tool by a mile. I did 87 tulips in the side bed without wrecking my back. Anyone else try the drill trick or am I the only one who hates kneeling for hours?

Hold on, you actually think that auger drill bit is better? I rented one last spring and it was a total pain. The cheap bits bend if you hit one rock, and then you're stuck hand-digging anyway. Plus, you're still on your knees, just faster. And what about the soil compaction from spinning that thing so fast? You're basically glazing the dirt like a donut. My old hand auger might take twice as long but it doesn't yank my shoulder or leave a mess of twisted roots. Call me old school, but I'll take the slow burn over replacing a $18 bit every other weekend.
