Spent $300 on a fancy rain barrel setup and it clogged within two weeks

I went all in on a drip irrigation system from a big box store, and now I'm wondering if a simple bucket with a spigot would've worked just as well. Has anyone else had better luck with DIY rain collection versus store bought kits?

Paid $150 for a kit that leaked everywhere the first time my hose got kinked.

Remembered leaving a brand new tent in the rain and coming back to a puddle inside because I folded it wrong, man that sucked. Ended up just using a tarp for the rest of the trip.
