The $600 paver mistake that turned into a hidden gem
Last spring I paid a crew to lay 300 square feet of interlocking pavers in my backyard in Dayton. They did fine work, but three weeks later the center started sinking after a heavy rain. Instead of ripping it up, I pulled the sunken section, backfilled with crushed stone, and reset them myself. Total cost to fix was $45 in stone and a full Saturday. Now that patch is the most level part of the whole patio, and I actually enjoy telling people about the do-over. Has anyone else fixed a sloppy contractor job cheaper than the original price?

Wait, a level spot in one patio is a gem now? Sounds like you just did light maintenance. Not exactly thrilling.
