Bought a $75 'artisan' bread scoring tool that snapped on the first loaf

I saw this fancy 'Lame du Chef' blade online and thought it would give my sourdough those magazine-perfect ears. The handle was walnut and everything. Went to score a basic boule last Tuesday and the thin metal just bent and broke right in the middle of the cut. Total waste, now I'm back to using a free razor blade taped to a chopstick. Anyone have a scoring tool that actually LASTS?

Ugh that's so frustrating for that price. My old plastic handled one from a baking supply store has held up for years, maybe try one of those? What kind of bread were you making?

Hey @claire_fisher41, what brand is that plastic one you've had for years?

My buddy bought a fancy metal one that snapped on his first sourdough attempt. He ended up borrowing his mom's old plastic one, kind of like what Claire_fisher41 mentioned, and it's still going strong. The handle just has "Bake-Easy" stamped on it, nothing special. He says the cheap ones just have more give when you're dealing with stiff dough.
