Finally switched to a scale for measuring flour and I can't believe I waited so long

I used to scoop my flour with a measuring cup for years. My cookies and breads always came out okay but never great. Then my sister brought her kitchen scale over last month and showed me how consistent the dough felt. First batch of banana bread I made with it came out perfect and now I can't go back. Anyone else have that moment where you realized weighing was way better?

My wife bakes all the time and she switched over about two years ago. The thing nobody talks about is how it changes your cleanup routine though. With cups you gotta wash all that sticky measuring stuff but with a scale you just dump the flour right into the bowl and zero it out for the next ingredient. Less dishes to wash at the end of the night is a huge bonus. Plus you can do things like dump 247 grams of chocolate chips into cookie dough instead of guessing if that's a half cup or whatever.

The other bonus folks sleep on is portion control for stuff like butter. My wife wil slice off a weird amount from the stick and just chuck it on the scale versus trying to cut exactly at the tablespoon marks. Saves a lot of unnecessary little bits of butter sitting in the wrapper.
