My baking buddy thinks I'm nuts for weighing every ingredient

I swear by the scale for consistent results, but she says measuring cups are just as good for most recipes. Where do you all fall on this?

Ever had a cake turn out dense one time and fluffy the next? That's usually cup measuring messing with your flour amount. I weigh everything now because a cup of flour can weigh way different depending on how you scoop it. My chocolate chip cookies went from flat discs to perfect rounds after I started using a scale. Why argue when you can just show her the results with a side by side bake?

Saw a whole chapter in a baking book about this exact thing. They called cup measuring "the great recipe lie" because flour settles so much in the bag. My grandma used to swear by the dip and sweep method, but even that packed it down too much. Switching to grams was annoying at first, but now my bread actually rises the same way every single time.

But what does your friend say when her baked goods turn out different each time?
