My stand mixer threw a bearing last Sunday and it ruined my whole day

I was right in the middle of a double batch of brioche dough when my KitchenAid started making this godawful grinding sound. Then smoke came out of the back vents and the bowl stopped spinning completely. I had to finish kneading that sticky mess by hand for 20 minutes which was a nightmare. Called around to three repair shops in Portland and nobody can even look at it until next Thursday. So now I'm stuck using a hand mixer for everything and my arms hurt just thinking about it. Anyone else had a mixer die at the absolute worst time or am I just unlucky?

...and then my truck threw a rod on the way to a job site last month, so I feel your pain on the whole "perfect timing" thing. I was hauling a load of mulch and suddenly there's this knock that sounds like someone beating a metal trash can with a baseball bat. Had to call a buddy to come tow me while the mulch bags sat in the bed getting baked by the sun. The shop said it'd be two weeks just to look at it, and by the time they got around to rebuilding the engine I was without my truck for almost a month. Nothing like being stuck with a backup vehicle that barely has AC in July while you're waiting, right?

It's like the universe always knows the worst possible moment to mess with you.
