Sour dough starter panic, then my neighbor fixed it

I was ready to toss my starter after 2 weeks of nothing. My neighbor, who bakes bread every Sunday, said I was feeding it wrong. She showed me her ratio, 1:1:1 with warm tap water, not the bottled stuff I was using. Hit different because she pulled out her own 3 year old jar and let me smell the difference. Anyone else get stuck on a tiny detail like that and almost quit?
