The real lesson here is that kitchen scales are way more complicated than they should be. Battery dies and suddenly you're trying to figure out if the motherboard is fried or something. I bet most of those four hours was just staring at tiny screws and trying to remember which one went where. At least now you know exactly how your scale works and you can probably fix it blindfolded next time. Four hours of troubleshooting is basically a master class in that specific device. You could probably start a side business repairing kitchen scales now if you wanted.

Did you at least learn something about yourself while you were taking it apart though... I mean that's four hours of focused work on something. Most people these days can't even sit through a movie without checking their phone four times. Maybe the real value wasn't fixing the scale but proving to yourself you still have that patience.
