Found out today that chilling cookie dough for 30 minutes instead of the full hour still works fine.

I was running late for a party and just stuck the tray in after half the time and they spread less than my usual rushed batches, has anyone else tested shorter chill times?

My friend tried 20 minutes once in a panic and honestly they turned out better than her usual ones (she's always in a rush, typical). Said the texture was still nice and chewy so maybe we've all been waiting too long for no reason.

Honestly I've found 18-20 minutes works better than the box says almost every time in my experience. The longer baking time tends to dry them out, especially if you're using a darker cookie sheet that holds heat. Last batch I made I pulled them at 19 minutes and they had that perfect soft center with just a little crunch on the edges. Your mileage may vary depending on your oven though, some run hot.
