Had a baking day last Sunday that went completely off the rails

I was trying to make a simple batch of chocolate chip cookies for a family dinner, but my butter was too soft and my eggs were fridge-cold, so the dough came out like a greasy puddle. After 3 tries and almost crying over wasted flour, I finally got a decent batch by chilling the dough for an hour before baking. Has anyone else had a day where nothing in the kitchen seemed to cooperate no matter what you did?

Man I saw this baking tip on TikTok the other day about how room temperature eggs are a total game changer. Put them in a bowl of warm water for 5 minutes next time. Saves you from the greasy dough disaster.

That's one of those tricks that feels too simple to matter until you actually try it. Kind of like how waiting 30 seconds after pouring coffee makes it taste better but nobody has the patience. There's a whole category of small life adjustments that seem pointless until you realize they just quietly fix things.
