I finally tried sourdough after swearing it was overhyped for years

Honestly, I thought sourdough was just a trend people bragged about on Instagram. My friend Jess talked me into trying her starter last month after I complained my sandwich bread was always too dense. I followed her recipe exact, weighed everything on a scale, and let it proof for 14 hours. The crust came out crispy and the inside had those big airy holes I always saw online. Now I'm three loaves in and my family keeps asking for more. Has anyone else held out on a baking trend and then got totally hooked?

Funny how that works, right? It's like how we resist things until we actually try them and realize we were wrong the whole time. This happens with so much stuff in life not just baking. People swear they hate something until the right version comes along. Your sourdough story is pretty much how I got into making my own yogurt last year after saying it was too much effort for years. Now I can't go back to store bought stuff because the homemade taste is just better. It makes you wonder what other things we're missing out on just because we made up our minds too early.

Oh man, I was the exact same way! I thought sourdough was just for people with too much time on their hands, but then my neighbor brought over a loaf and I couldn't stop eating it. Now I'm saving some of my starter in the fridge so I can make it whenever I want.

Honestly, the tangy taste is just too much for me.
