A Wells Fargo teller made me rethink how I carry cash

I was at a Wells Fargo in Portland last Tuesday depositing $80 from a garage sale. The teller asked if I ever split my cash between my wallet and my phone case because she sees so many people lose everything when their wallet gets stolen. She said she keeps $40 in her car console and $40 in a hidden pocket in her jacket. It hit different because I always just shove everything in my wallet and pray. Has anyone else changed how they carry cash after a random conversation like that?

Wait, did she actually say she hides money in her car console? Isn't that just asking for a broken window if someone sees you grab it?

Wait, she actually told you she keeps cash in her car console? That's like a top 5 spot thieves check first. I feel like that advice works way better when someone just keeps it in a random jacket pocket. My buddy had his car broken into and they took his spare change and gym bag, so a visible $40 would be gone instantly.
