Client one-liner about monthly statements made me redo my whole flow

Last month a small business owner in Austin told me my payment reports were 'technically right but useless' for their bookkeeper. I always focused on transaction counts and batch totals, never on how the data would actually be read. Now I format every statement with running balances and merchant descriptors in plain language, and I ask clients how they use the numbers before setting up their dashboard. Has anyone else gotten feedback like that from a non-technical client that forced you to rethink your reporting setup?

The same thing happened with a dentist last spring, I had to admit my clean reports were actually just data dumps.
