Just dropped $150 on a 'fraud protection' service from my bank and I'm pretty sure it's a total scam

Ugh, that's rough. Banks push those services hard because they make a ton of money on them. The basic fraud alerts you get for free with your card are usually just as good. They're basically charging you $150 for something you could do yourself by just checking your statements.

Right? And what happens when you actually need their help? I had a friend who paid for a service like that and it took them three days to even call her back about a real fraud case. They make it sound like you have a personal bodyguard for your money, but really you are just paying for a fancy phone tree. It is such a scam.
