My friend in Seattle mentioned her bank is closing its local branch next month

She said she only goes in person maybe twice a year, but it still feels like a big loss for the neighborhood. It got me thinking about how many people still rely on physical banks versus just using apps like Venmo or their phone for everything. Has your local bank branch closed down too?

Used to think it was no big deal. But @maxm63 is right, my grandma needs that teller.

My cousin in Cleveland lost her branch last year and had to take two buses just to deposit a check. It's not just about banking, it feels like every service is pulling back from real places. We're getting pushed toward apps and screens for everything, even when a simple face to face talk works better. That bank lobby was probably where people learned about loans or got help with forms they didn't understand online. Once those spots close, they never come back, and the whole area feels a little more empty.

How many seniors still need that physical teller?
