My paycheck used to show up 2 days early, now it's the morning of and I want to know what changed
I get paid by direct deposit at a bank in Denver and for about a year the money hit my account on Wednesday night when payday was Friday. Starting in April it moved to Friday around 7am, not a minute sooner. I called and the rep said it depends on when my employer sends the file, but nothing changed on my end. My coworker at the same company still gets his on Wednesday, so it's clearly a bank thing and not payroll. Did your bank quietly stop posting early deposits, or is this just me?
Man, I read a whole thread about this on a finance site a while back and it made my head spin. Turns out some banks were fronting you the cash early as a courtesy, then they quietly stopped doing it because they were losing money on it or getting pushback from somewhere. The catch is your employer sends the file at the same time every week, so the bank knows exactly when the money is coming. They just choose when to release it to your account. If your coworker still gets his two days early, then yeah, your bank pulled the plug on the perk for you, maybe because of your account type or some change they never told you about. Did you happen to switch account types or get a new card around April? That timing is way too clean to be a coincidence.
