Noticed a shift in how people pay at the bar over the last 2 years

Used to be 80% of my tabs closed out with cash, now it's flipped to almost everyone tapping their phone or card. I wonder if this is the same across other small businesses or just my regulars changing habits.

My buddy Tom runs a coffee shop over on Grand Avenue and he told me the exact same thing happened to him. About a year and a half ago he said it flipped overnight where maybe 1 out of 10 people even bother pulling out cash anymore. He actually had to stop keeping a big cash float in the register because he was barely getting any bills coming in. It's wild how fast that changed, it felt like people just decided to stop carrying wallets altogether one day.
