PSA: That $50 'priority processing' fee at my credit union was a total waste

Paid $50 for a rush mortgage application at my credit union in Austin last month, but it still took the same 6 weeks as the standard process, has anyone else gotten tricked by these expedite fees that don't actually do anything?

And then my buddy paid extra for express shipping on a part and it showed up two weeks late.

That "it showed up two weeks late" part is exactly what gets me. These companies know people are desperate for faster service so they slap a fee on it and do nothing different. I swear they just bank on people being too busy to follow up or complain. Same thing happened to me with a credit card rush delivery once, paid extra and it came when normal mail would have brought it anyway. It is basically a tax on people who need things quickly and don't have time to fight about it later.
