Rant: A client said my invoice notes were confusing and it cost me a payment

They specifically told me 'I can't tell what this $475 charge is for' last month, so I switched to plain language line items. Anyone else get pushback on how they bill?

My buddy lost a client over a "professional services" line item that was too vague.

Wait, he lost the whole client over just one line item? That seems like a huge overreaction on their part. In my experience, clients usually ask for a clarification first if something looks off. Maybe there was already some trust missing from earlier work. Still, it's a good reminder to be super clear, even if it feels like overkill. A vague charge can make people feel like you're hiding something.

Honestly, that's why I always break down every single charge.
