Serious question why does everyone think Zelle is the best thing since sliced bread

I had a Zelle payment fail in March 2022 and took 6 weeks to get my money back after someone scammed me on Facebook Marketplace. Has anyone else had issues getting their bank to reverse a Zelle transfer?

Six weeks sounds about right for a Zelle "oopsie, that money is gone forever" situation. I had a guy pay me for a video game console, then claimed it was "fraud" and Zelle just shrugged and said tough luck. My bank literally told me "Zelle is like handing cash to a stranger, you can't get it back." So yeah, sliced bread doesn't vanish into a black hole of bank bureaucracy, but Zelle sure does. Is there even a real person at these banks who can help, or is it all just automated robots laughing at us?

Has anyone actually managed to talk to a real human at Zelle, or is that just a myth at this point? Sounds like you got burned by that guy, @nathan851, and Zelle basically told you to kick rocks with no laces on your shoes. I swear, banks love to push these "instant payment" apps and then act like their hands are tied when something goes sideways. It's like they built a money cannon, handed us the keys, and then laughed when we blew our own foot off. You'd think for all those "processing fees" and whatnot, they could spare a guy to answer a phone.
