Shoutout to the bank teller who caught my math mistake last Tuesday
I was depositing a check for $847.32 at my local Chase branch and wrote $847.23 on the deposit slip. The teller, a lady named Diane, pointed it out before she processed it. I would have been short $0.09 and probably never noticed until months later when reconciling. It got me thinking about how much small human error happens with checks every day, especially with older folks who still use them. A lot of people in this community seem to focus on fancy fintech apps but forget the basics like double-checking numbers. I wonder how many little mistakes get caught by tellers versus how many slip through the cracks. Has anyone else had a teller save them from a dumb error like this?

Honestly, same thing happened to me at Wells Fargo last month.

Dude, my friend literally had her whole check held for like two weeks there.
