Stopped using my bank's app for bill pay after a $75 late fee

Last month my water bill went unpaid because the app showed the payment scheduled but it never went through, so now I log into each utility directly and set up autopay from my checking account. Has anyone else had a bank app glitch like this, or am I just unlucky?

The whole "showed the payment scheduled but it never went through" part got me. I used to be all about using one single app for everything, figured it was easier to have it all in one place. But after reading this, I realized I was basically crossing my fingers every month that the bank app did its job. I had a similar scare with my electric bill last year, the app said paid but then I got a disconnect notice. Now I just set up autopay on each site too, it takes an extra ten minutes but at least I know who to blame when something goes wrong. Banks make enough money off us, they don't need to be adding late fees on top of it.
