The week I processed 300 checks by hand felt like the old days
Back in 2019, our digital payment system went down for a full week. I literally sat there stamping and sorting paper checks one by one. Has anyone else had to fall back on manual methods when tech failed?

Oh gosh, yes that brings back memories! We had a similar thing happen back in 2017 when our bank's online portal crashed for almost two weeks. I ended up printing out every single transaction on a dot matrix printer and reconciling receipts by hand. It was slow and tedious, but there was something kind of grounding about it. You had to be so careful, double check every number, and handle all that paper. Made me appreciate the convenience of digital systems for sure, but also made me realize we can still get the job done if we have to.

Had to be so careful, double check every number' - yeah that's exactly what I remember doing too @ross.angela. It's stressful when you can't just look things up online. My old boss used to make me keep a paper ledger for our petty cash and I hated it but looking back it did make me pay attention to every little thing. Sometimes I think we get lazy with all the apps doing the work for us.
