TIL my credit union's 2 day transfer window vs a same day wire for a $4,500 car payment
So last month I sold my old truck and needed to send $4,500 to a guy in Reno for the car I was buying, and I had two ways to do it. Option one was a plain transfer through my credit union app, which was free but the lady on the phone told me it could take 2 business days to land. Option two was a wire, which cost me $25 and I had to go into a branch in person before 2pm. I picked the free transfer to save the cash because the seller seemed chill and said no rush. Big mistake, lol. The money left my account that same afternoon but did not show up in his account until Thursday morning, and he started texting me Wednesday night asking if I was trying to scam him. I had to screenshot my pending transaction and call him to calm him down. Turns out the transfer goes through a middleman bank and that adds a day. Anyone here ever pay a wire fee just to skip the wait, or do you all just ride it out?
