Took 4 days to fix a 2 minute ACH reversal mistake

Spent nearly a week arguing with my bank about a wrong ACH entry I made, when all they needed was a simple void code from their back end. Why does a simple payment fix turn into a 96 hour nightmare for everyone else too?

Gotta wonder if people are just making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. Like yeah it's annoying when stuff takes a few days but it's not like the bank lost the money or anything. It's just sitting there waiting for someone to hit a button. I've had things take way longer than that and still got it sorted out fine. Maybe the issue isn't the bank being slow but people expecting everything to happen instantly nowadays. A couple days of waiting isn't the end of the world, it's just a minor inconvenience at worst.

My buddy Mike sent $500 to the wrong account and it took his credit union five whole days to reverse it, even though the money never left their system. He joked he could've driven to the guy's house and asked for cash back faster than they moved.
