Unpopular opinion: I thought those instant bank transfers were always free...

I kept telling my friends to use Zelle because it was 'free', but then I got hit with a $10 fee for a fast transfer to my new account at a different bank. The fine print said it was for moving money between different financial networks, not just sending to another person. Has anyone else found a better way to move cash fast without the surprise charges?

Yeah, that fine print gets you every time. The "free" part only works if both people use the same bank network. For moving your own money between different banks, the old school ACH transfer is still free but takes a few days. If you really need it same day, sometimes eating the fee is the only option, which is a total scam.
